The Escondido Grape Day Festival

Escondido’s oldest and most famous event, the Grape Day Festival, returns Saturday, September 10th, 2022, 10am-4pm at Grape Day Park. The Festival will celebrate the early days of Escondido, when agriculture was King and festival goers traveled from across the state to see why Escondido was hailed as having the sweetest grapes and became an agricultural hub. From 1908 to 1950, it drew thousands of visitors and rivaled Pasadena’s Festival of Roses in attendance. This year, with a renewed sense of community, the Escondido History Center is bringing the Grape Day Festival to life, with a focus on celebrating the traditions of Escondido’s glorious past. The 2022 family-friendly and free to attend festival will feature grape stomping, pre 50’s era live music, old time children’s games, Antique farm machinery and artisans, a local wine and beer tasting garden, food court,arts and crafts vendors and more!

Earth Day Reception at Flying Goat Cellars

Join Flying Goat in the celebration of “Down to Earth” (D2E) Month and Earth Day. Sustainability is the theme and we are sharing some of our many practices toward that goal. Norm and Kate source fruit from some of the finest vineyards in Santa Barbara County so they do not practice viticulture. Yet, they do practice backyard beekeeping, vermiculture, composting and gardening, which contribute to a sustainable environment. Flying Goat also has many sustainable practices in the cellar and tasting room. At our Earth Day Reception, we’ll share a bee demonstration hive and honey to spark your interest.

Tree Lighting Festival in the Courtyard at South Coast Winery

South Coast Winery Resort & Spa’s outdoor Tree Lighting Festival is full of fun and holiday surprises for the whole family. A wonderful variety of seasonal-inspired dishes, assorted Christmas cookies and other delicious desserts will be available, along with a hot chocolate and cider station. Entertainment includes Christmas carolers and a DJ playing holiday music. There will also be tractor rides, horse and carriage rides, arts and crafts, photos with Santa, and the exciting tree lighting begins at 6 p.m. South Coast Winery Resort & Spa is proud to be an official Toys for Tots drop-off location and encourages guests to bring new, unwrapped toys to donate to less fortunate kids. Blue Quail is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary. The event this Saturday is part of the wider Hopland Second Saturday. Wine club pick ups will happen this day and anyone can buy wines, organic herbs, garlic braids. For home home decor or gifting pre-order a Bay Leaf Wreath online, these are hand made to order and will smell fresh and wonderful. When the wreaths dry pull off a leaf anytime it’s needed for a stew, soup or braised meat dish. Vicki Andersen Artist Reception and Exhibit at Flying Goat Cellars

All are invited to a reception for artist Vicki Andersen. Toast Andersen with a glass of wine and purchase her original artwork or giclees. Her acrylic painting “Sunflower Vintage,” which was used for the 2011 Santa Barbara Vintners Festival poster, and other wine related paintings will be featured at the Flying Goat tasting room through the end of September. Andersen has been painting since her 16th birthday when she was given a set of oils and an easel by her “not yet Step-Father.” That eventually led to earning a degree in Illustration at CalState Long Beach. She has always loved color but her style has become much looser over the years. Most of her current work leans toward the impressionist/post-impressionist style. Great wines begin in the vineyard and you’ll get an insider’s view as we explore our vineyards while tasting our iconic wines where the grapes grow. We’ll pass by our working winery, the original 1868 Alexander Valley school and the Alexander homestead. Relax and take in the views on our winery deck after the tour and finish up with a wine country picnic. This is the ultimate way to experience the history, tradition, and excellence of Alexander Valley Vineyards. This is an easy walking tour, but there are hills and dirt trails. Hands on Harvest

Get an inside look at harvest at Fenton Herriott Vineyards. We are an estate grown and produced winery. This means that we have the privilege of having every step of winemaking at the same location. From the vines, to the tasting room, Fenton Herriott has an insider look at grape growing and winemaking. Get a tour every hour between 12pm-4pm this weekend and see the process up close and personal. South Coast Winery Grape Stomps are composed of two-person teams. The winner of each of these friendly competitions receives a bottle of the special 20th Anniversary Blend. Stomps take place at 2 pm and 4:30 pm. Tickets start at $168 and include a wine flight for each person that matches his/her preferences (choice of three flights) and a case of wine per two participants as part of the ticket price. Cases can be mixed and matched. Guests reserve their spot by purchasing a timeslot on the online store. The non-refundable deposit is $50 and counts for a team of two people. 2013 Tributary Pinot Noir by the Glass

Join us Saturday, March 14th at our Riverbench Vineyard Tasting Room where we will be pouring our very limited production Tributary Pinot Noir. This wine is only made on select vintages, from the best barrels of Pinot Noir on the property. Because there are only a few cases of this wine left, we do not open bottles for normal tastings. Riverbench Vineyard Tasting Room: Extended Hours

After many club member requests, we’re trying something a little different. Riverbench Vineyard tasting room along the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail will be open for a late afternoon of lawn games, all original live music and wine by the glass or bottle. Bring your blanket, chairs and friends for a relaxing Friday afternoon in our garden. Tasting flights end at 4pm; our normal closing time. Wine served by the glass or bottle from 4 to 6pm.

Wine + Doughnut Pairing

What’s better than doughnuts? Doughnuts paired with wine! We are excited to partner with a local bakery in Los Olivos for this special sweet and savory pairing. God’s Country Provisions was established in 2018 to bring creativity to familiar doughnuts we all love, delivered with wine country hospitality. Pre-order of this doughnut pairing is required, as they will be baked to order and picked up each morning. Ticket holders may come in to our vineyard tasting room anytime on Saturday from 10am – 3pm to redeem their tickets for a delicious wine and food pairing flight.

Veteran’s Day at Riverbench Vineyard

At Riverbench, past and present military service men and women receive complimentary wine tastings year round. For Veterans Day weekend, we’re toasting to those who served. Visit either Riverbench tasting room anytime on Saturday, Sunday or Monday for a special library sparkling wine pour added to any tasting.

We’re excited to be hosting a day of pumpkin decorating at our vineyard tasting room. Bring only your creativity – we’ve grown hundreds of pumpkins for you to choose from! One pumpkin and decorating supplies included with each ticket. Choose from seating options beginning at 11am or 2pm. Wine by the bottle or glass available throughout the day in the garden. Live Music, Food Truck + Wine in the Vineyard

Sundays in October are always a great time to visit Riverbench Vineyard! Special outdoor wine menu includes wine by the bottle or glass. Bring a blanket and find a spot for a picnic on the lawn. A local musician (to be announced soon) will be filling the garden with all original music from 12pm to 3pm. Big Truck Foods will be serving their delicious grilled sandwiches and burgers made with deli-fresh meats and cheeses, served on locally baked breads with their own unique sauces.

Schugtoberfest

The Schug family’s winemaking roots begin along the Rhein River in Germany, at Domäne Assmannshausen, where Walter Schug spent his childhood and his father Ewald was Winemaster, beginning in 1923. In the early 1900s, as the popularity of Munich’s Oktoberfest grew, the small towns scattered across Germany- including the winemaking regions- began throwing their own versions of the harvest festival. Through this tradition, we continue to celebrate the fall bounty with our annual Schugtoberfest Harvest Party! Admission includes drink tickets, bites, live polka with dancing, and stunning views of Carneros from the Schug Estate.

For 82 years the people in San Joaquin County have been gathering to celebrate the grape harvest at the annual Lodi Grape Festival. Healdsburg Art Festival

The Healdsburg Center for the Arts in collaboration with the City of Healdsburg Community Services will present the 2019 Healdsburg Art Festival from June 21-23 in Healdsburg Plaza Park.

The festival will feature up to 60 different artist booths from artists from throughout the U.S and internationally. There will be live performances and entertainment by various bands, musicians, dancers, poets, comedians and acrobats. Artists will demo their work throughout the day and interactive sculpture installations will be available throughout the park. An art zone will be provided which includes art activities for both kids and adults, face painting, chalk drawing, balloon animals and more. Food vendors will be available as well as a beer and wine garden.

Taste of the Mountains Menlo Park Wine Walk

The Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association presents the Taste of the Mountains Wine Walk on Saturday, June 1 in Downtown Menlo Park from 2-5:30pm. All ticket proceeds from the event will benefit the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation. Enjoy wines from small, local boutique wineries of the Santa Cruz Mountains poured in various designated tasting locations up and down Santa Cruz Avenue. Check in for your wristband, glass, and a map of the pouring locations – then enjoy an afternoon of tasting and discovering. Purchase your favorites from the bottle booth and Stay downtown for a dinner or movie to follow!

Earth Day Eco-Tour

In celebration of Earth Day we will be offering our Eco-Tour and Tasting for the price of our Classic Tasting. That’s a savings of $15 per person! It’s the perfect time to tour our sustainably farmed vineyard and learn all about our farming practices. You’ll get a close up view, from the comfort of our 8 passenger cart, of the different things we do to ensure a healthy vineyard and minimize our impact on the environment. Then we’ll head back to the tasting room for a tasting of our current release wines.

Eco-Tour and Tasting Experience

What better way to learn about environmentally friendly practices than with a guided tour through our sustainably farmed Rutherford vineyard? Our Eco-Tour & Tasting begins in the Honig tasting room where you will sample our classic Sauvignon blanc. We will then board our 6-passenger cart which will transport you into the vineyard, where you’ll see first-hand the things we do to care for the environment while producing world-class wines – from managing water use, to providing wildlife habitat, to our role in the restoration of the Rutherford Reach of the Napa River (and of course, the Honig bees!) Once we have completed the vineyard tour, relax and enjoy a tasting of our current release wines.

This unique, weekend-only opportunity explores sustainability in action as you enjoy an hour-long horseback ride with organic vineyard views and panoramas across Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay. Sip some great wine, bite into tasty BBQ and hear about our involvement in the California Sustainable Winegrowing Program from our winemaker/viticulturist Nicholas Palumbo where he will delve deeper into the word “Sustainable” and what it means to our lives as well as our business. Also learn how you can support local 4H kids and fill your freezer with locally and ethically raised, healthy, safe meats.

Down to Earth at Big White House and John Evan Cellars

We toast Mother Earth during Down to Earth Month in April. Come raise your glass as you gaze across the estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard beginning to bud. Make a wish and sprinkle, or toss if the mood strikes, some wild flower seeds along our patio’s edge. Be green and cycle over to taste our upcoming new barrel samples and we will donate your tasting fee to an “Earthly” charity. Tasting room fees apply to taste.

Organic Vineyard, Winery & Garden Tour

Come experience a guided walk of our beautiful gardens and organic vineyards and visit with our happy farm animals. Learn about grape growing and wine making at the highest levels while you taste through a selection of our Estate grown and produced wines. During the seated portion of your tour we will delight you with a modest sampling of what our farm and gardens produce.

Earth Day Tour at Alexander Valley Vineyards

Get a behind the scenes look at the Wetzel Family’s commitment to sustainability.The family motto has always been “use less and have more”. Using that phrase as guidance, Harry Wetzel, IV has taken the family commitment to sustainability to the next level and says quite simply, “it is the right thing to do. Minimizing our impact on the environment is not only good for us, but it’s healthy for everything around us as well.” Join Harry on April 13 at 1pm for a tour of the property, an in-depth discussion of the many components of sustainability practiced for decades, along with tasting the wines resulting from that commitment. This 1.5 hour tour will look at the environmental, economic, and social elements of sustainability that have been implemented since 1962 at Alexander Valley Vineyards. This is an easy walking tour, limited to 35 guests. Reservations are required.

Drink Green: A Toast to Sustainable Winegrowing

Travel to participating wineries for “Drink Green: A Toast to Sustainable Winegrowing” celebrating Madera County’s commitment to sustainable winegrowing and winemaking practices. Eco-Tour

Co-located with Garrod Farms Riding Stable, Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards is a historic property farmed by generations of the same family since 1893. Led by our Eco-Docent Ramblin’ Bill Bosworth – who’s married to one of the fun cousins who live and work here – this tour looks at much more than vineyards. Our hillsides are home to wonderful plants and include wildlife corridors for the animals. This gentle hillside walk takes it all in plus includes some family lore! Comfortable shoes for dirt trails are advised; water bottle, sun hat and sunscreen at your discretion. The tour is complimentary; $15 tasting fee for flight of five wines afterward.

Join Winemaker Bill Cooper and see the full scope of grape growing and wine making on property farmed by the family since 1893. Learn the evolution of generational family agriculture, the nuances of Organic grape growing, and the reasons why Cooper-Garrod believes in Sustainability throughout its operations. Walk in the Gravel Ridge Chardonnay Vineyard to see spring vines up close and personal. Find out why efficiencies matter in the crush pad. Take in the wonderful aromas of the barrel room. Wine Excursion at Captain Vineyards/Second Sunday of Each Month

Second Sundays of the month.

Wine and grapes are about place, they speak of the soil from which they grew. Take a tour of this local vineyard, captain vineyards, the first green winery in Contra Costa County and a small business climate leader. We will touch on sustainable grape growing and wine making. Wine Taste on the Santa Clara Valley Wine Trail

Women Winemakers Dinner

Expect 20+ women winemakers pouring their wines in a pre-dinner tent reception, and at the wine-paired dinner: a 4-course feast prepared by some of the area’s best female chefs, restaurateurs and food crafters. In addition to the seated dinner portion of the evening, this year’s event will once again feature a tent on a closed-to-traffic street in front of K’Syrah’s downtown Solvang venue. Housed inside the tent, nearly two dozen women winemakers who will be on-hand to pour tastes of their wines and talk with event guests during the pre-dinner tasting reception (5:30 PM to 7:30 PM), to include passed appetizers and live music.
